John Day, Sr. was born 20 Aug 1860 in Luton, Bedfordshire, England to Thomas Day and Elizabeth Merchant. He came to America with his family when he was very young. He Married Lucy Philena Canfield on 5 November 1888 in Hamblin, Washington County, Utah. Hamblin is just miles from Pinto. He fathered three children: Emma, John Day Jr., and Henry Day, twins. John later married Sarah Bell Tait on 16 Jun 1904. He died 9 April 1930 in Enterprise, Utah.
