Mary Ann Day began her life on 22 May 1850 in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. Her parents were Thomas Day and Elizabeth Merchant. Her family moved to Utah after they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.In Utah she met and married George Showell. They were the parents of three children including: George A., Emma E. and Frances J.
Mary Ann died 21 Nov 1910 and is buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA.
